HAPTIC PAVILION
The pavilion portrays a monumental concrete pavilion shaped as a deeply sculpted, open-air amphitheater —an architecture that embraces the body as much as the eye. The space celebrates the structural strength of concrete, using its mass not only to hold but to carve, fold, and embrace. The walls rise like a continuous canyon, their curvature revealing the material’s malleability—cast, imprinted, eroded, and patterned into porous geometries. These recesses, niches, and apertures soften the monolithic surface, transforming heaviness into tactility, encouraging touch, shadow, and acoustic diffusion. The pavilion’s thermal mass moderates climate, absorbing heat during the day and releasing it at night, creating comfort without mechanical reliance. Its acoustic performance is intentional—the concave form focuses sound toward the central performance area while textured concrete scatters reverberation, enhancing clarity for music and spoken word.
